Made popular during the Georgian Era by then Prince of Wales and a gift to a certain clandestine sweetheart, the intrigue of lover’s eye miniatures has endured to this day. A hand-crafted crystal Eye cab is bezelled with Peyote Stitch, then surrounded by delicate Swarovski Crystal Pearls and Swarovski Bicone Fringe.
You will use Bead Embroidery and Peyote Bezel skills to surround a cab in 15/0 seed beads, choose from brooch or pendant options, and employ Brick Stitch and Picot Edging with Demi Rounds and 15s to complete the piece. Brooch and Pendant options are both discussed, including temporary and permanent pendant options.
Finished Size: 1-5/8” by 1-3/8” without the pin to pendant converter included in the kit.
Skill Level: This is an Advanced Beginner/Intermediate project that assumes that you can independently work a Peyote Bezel, Brick Stitch Edging, and Basic Bead Embroidery.
Techniques Used: Bead Embroidery, Peyote Stitch Bezel, Brick Stitch Edging, Stop-stitch (short fringing).
Materials included in Kit: Full-color instructions, Hand-crafted Crystal Eye Cab, Swarovski Pearls, Swarovski Bicones, 15/0 Japanese Seed Beads, 11/0 Toho Demi Rounds, Lacy's Stiff Stuff, Ultrasuede, Pinback, Pin to Pendant Converter in Gold or Silver (whichever is appropriate to your seed bead color).
Other supplies needed: Preferred adhesive, Beading Needle, and 6lb Fireline.
